Day 1: Budapest
We will depart from Szeged, from the Pláza car park, in the early morning of 21 November 2026 (Saturday) to enjoy an unforgettable day in Hungary’s magnificent capital, Budapest. We will arrive in the Danube-side metropolis during the morning, where our first stop will be the magnificent Hungarian Parliament Building, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During our visit, we will admire the Hungarian Crown Jewels, preserved beneath the impressive 96-metre-high dome, the splendid Upper House Chamber and the breathtaking Grand Staircase. We will then discover the impressive buildings surrounding Kossuth Square and Liberty Square. During our free time, we can enjoy the magical atmosphere of the Advent market in front of the Neoclassical St. Stephen’s Basilica. Next, we will board our coach and leave Pest behind as we head towards Buda. In the heart of the UNESCO-listed Buda Castle District, near the enchanting Fisherman’s Bastion and historic Matthias Church, a unique underground adventure awaits us. Accompanied by local guides, we will explore the mysterious cave system beneath the Castle District, discovering one of Budapest’s most fascinating hidden worlds. The caves are accessed via constructed walkways, so no special clothing or particular level of fitness is required. After this exciting exploration, lasting approximately 1.5 hours, we will board our coach once again and travel to the Citadella. Here, we will see Alajos Stróbl’s famous Statue of Liberty while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of Pest illuminated by the evening lights. Following this unforgettable experience, we will bid farewell to the capital and begin our journey home, enriched by wonderful memories. Arrival in Szeged is expected late in the evening.
