Planned program
Day 1: Mohács and Osijek
On February 7, 2027 (Sunday), we depart from Szeged in the morning from the car park at Szeged Plaza. We cross the border at the Udvar border crossing. During the morning, we arrive in Osijek, on the banks of the Drava River, the economic, cultural and educational centre of Slavonia. We visit Osijek Fortress, whose bridge was set on fire in 1664 by soldiers of Miklós Zrínyi during the Ottoman occupation. The charming buildings along the main street leading towards the city centre evoke the atmosphere of the peaceful Belle Époque. The main square is dominated by the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, whose bell tower rises to a height of 90 metres. Its Neo-Gothic architecture lends this monumental building an elegant and airy appearance. After some free time in the city centre, we travel to Mohács, on the banks of the Danube, where spectacular festivities await us as part of the famous Busójárás carnival. Highlights include the procession of the busós from Kóló Square to Széchenyi Square, free time to celebrate Carnival alongside the masked figures in the town centre, and the ceremonial lighting of the bonfire in Széchenyi Square. We depart for home in the late afternoon, with arrival in Szeged expected in the evening.
