Planned program
Day 1: Ice Cathedral, Starý Smokovec and Štrbské Pleso
On February 13, 2027 (Saturday), we depart from Szeged in the early morning from the car park at Szeged Plaza. During the morning, we arrive in Starý Smokovec, where we board the funicular railway (lanovka) and travel up to Hrebienok, situated at an altitude of 1,285 metres and serving as an important tourist hub in the region. We visit the famous Ice Cathedral, recreated each year by ice sculptors using thousands of blocks of ice. After some free time to explore and admire the impressive ice sculptures, we return to the coach and continue to Štrbské Pleso, one of the largest lakes in the High Tatras. This spectacular 20-hectare mountain lake is a remnant of an ancient glacier, surrounded by a jagged ring of peaks reaching heights of up to 2,500 metres. We enjoy a walk around the lake before setting off for home in the afternoon. Arrival in Szeged is expected late in the evening.
